Hypnotherapy

headshotwebsiteClinical Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis support the transformational power of Neuro Linguistic Programming beautifully. The key to deep and lasting change is to work at an unconscious ( subconscious ) level. Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis do just this.

My professional qualification of Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis is based on the theories of Milton H. Erickson, a world renowned and highly effective American Psychiatrist and Clinical Psychologist from the 1960’s and 1970’s. He was a major influence in the development of Neuro Linguistic Programming.

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis itself, when used in a therapeutic context, may not be what you think.

As a Therapeutic Practitioner in the field of NLP, what I mean by Hypnosis is simply this:

  • Your ‘Conscious Mind’ which thinks, analyses and questions, is relatively tuned out
  • Your ‘Unconscious ( Subconscious ) Mind’ which is more open, and intuitive, is relatively tuned in

There are many examples of Hypnosis in natural hypnotic states, which we experience on a day to day basis.

For instance how many of you have…

  • Zoned out during a long lecture or presentation?
  • Driven on a complex journey, and literally remembered almost none of the detail?
  • Drifted off into a daydream whilst watching TV or listening to music?
  • Enjoyed that ‘no man’s land’ state just before falling asleep?

These are all examples of Hypnosis and natural hypnotic states where our brain wave frequency drops down into an Alpha and Theta wave from the higher frequency of the Beta Wave. The effectiveness of Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis is rarely conditional on a deep hypnotic trance state, like you may have seen in movies or on TV.

The unconscious aspect of your mind is a rich resource, already in control of all the highly skilled and complex operations you carry out successfully on a day to day, like walking, driving, talking, breathing and bodily functions. The conscious aspect of your mind is the ‘thinking’ and ‘analytical’ part of your experience, which mistakenly ‘thinks’ it is in charge. In fact it is not. The conscious mind is about 0.5 seconds behind the unconscious, just making a best guess about what is going on. The unconscious aspect of your mind is behind your decision making and it is in charge of about 99% of your daily experience.

The real power and impact of Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis comes from the hypnotic language. This works by making both direct, and indirect suggestions to the unconscious aspect of your mind and is particularly powerful when used in combination with NLP language.

Hypnosis is perfectly safe, has no negative side effects, and is often deeply relaxing. You are in control at every stage of Hypnosis.

A skilled NLP Practitioner and Clinical Hypnotherapist can design specific language patterns during your sessions, in order to lead you to a more useful state – a state where making the change you want is easier for you. This is how you will find yourself making change more easily and quickly than with other ‘talking’ therapies.

One of the reasons clients can be surprised at the speed and effectiveness of Neuro Linguistic Programming combined with Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis, is that when used skillfully together, they can communicate and influence at a deep level, even in a conversational way.

You will see from my client testimonials that some clients arrive as sceptics, and are genuinely surprised by the results they achieve through the sessions.
